A series of every day ambient sounds expressed as abstract form. These letterpress editions translate flossing, hair brushing and a retractable power cord. Run of (45) 18" x 21" prints.
One of my favorite design outlets is creating geometric, bold patterns. Patterns are all around us, some subtle while others bombastic. The repetition and monochromatic color palettes ease the eye over the visual and create a sense of balance and delight.
A selection of my patterns are available through Society6. Check 'em out!
Twenty Six Characters and a Couple of Glyphs is a typographic installation at the College for Creative Studies. Each character represents a student from the 2012 graduating class. A collaborative effort, the concept explores the idea of our “home away from home” (CCS), illustrated through a custom, hand drawn alphabet. Students contributed to the project by submitting a frame that represented the essence of their family life. The team developed custom letter forms and a rubbing station with home made crayons for visitors to interact with and illustrate a portrait of their own.

Genetics create the base for human life. A child's given physical traits are predetermined by the components possessed by their parents. Although there is some room for surprise, dominant genetic factors are likely to take the reigns of the physical make-up of a child. As a person is raised, they are exposed to a particular environment and develop habits and opinions based on said environment. People, places and experiences all contribute to the development of an individual's personality.
This study examines how siblings, born and raised in the same conditions are given the opportunity to make decisions that differentiate themselves from their sibling(s). The study also displays the strength of genes, and the relationships siblings are bound by.
Memories arise from chance. They come in no particular order and are triggered by our senses. With time, memories can be altered or skewed based on the impact of the event. Memories of the same event or interaction can vary between individuals as each person has a set of triggers unique to their recognition or recollection. Memory Maker is a video compilation of personal memories projected onto transparent fabric layers. As the video played on loop, viewers could walk through the memory to spark memories of their own. Viewers contributed to the installation by sharing their memories and experiences on the Memory Maker web archive.

Baxter is a modular typeface based on simple geometry. This single weight typeface has a clean structure that encourages exploration in color and function. Its colorful characters are vibrant and interchangeable throughout the system. Baxter's personality is portrayed through the motion exploration below.
Quick Response was an interactive installation for the College for Creative Studies 2011 Student Exhibition. Using environmental QR codes, it explored how digital space interacts with physical space. The eight component installation was spread throughout the exhibition and encouraged user interaction. An eleven member team divided and conquered to create the complete installation in eight weeks. My contribution focused on the identity, signage, front end design of mobile screens and concepting.
*This project was submitted into the 2011 Adobe Design Achievement Awards and was awarded first place in the Installation Design category.
*This project has also been recognized in the March 2012 edition of HOW Magazine.

Working collaboratively with client Ecostore USA, this sponsored project's goal was to redesign the company's branding. Process included ethnographic observation and testing, mood board development, system development and finally application.
Goals included providing education for users, making information accessible, accurately conveying a positive health message, and making the system versatile for use and expansion. The core logo is expandable and versatile for use across a broad application spectrum. Inviting, simple language makes it easy for the consumer to relate and understand the content. My contribution focused on research and ethnography, color and material, and application throughout the system.
